How much Government Regulation do you want/need in your Strata? Survey say: "-Up to YOU."

British Columbia, deadline March 7th  for Survey or submissions.

Personally and professionally I have much to say about these proposed regulations. While the intent is reasonable, I fear that the regulation may be onerous on Strata Corporations and Strata Councils.

I am available to discuss this topic with my friends, colleagues and clients. However today, I am merely making sure that you as a citizen of BC have the chance to have your voice heard.

Except quoted as follows:

"In late 2009, the BC Legislature passed a number of amendments to the Strata Property Act. The changes relating to mandatory audited financial statements, depreciation reports, and disclosure of information can only take effect once government publishes detailed regulations for strata corporations to follow.

While the amendments to the Strata Property Act already set out the general policy, this survey is designed to gather your input on what specific requirements should be in the regulations. As a strata owner, resident, or professional, your participation in the survey is appreciated."

End quote.

This survey does allow you to preview the questions without actually filling it out. I recommend for anyone active in the management of their home and investment to read through this questionaire.

The introduction of regulations is a formality. This law is already passed. How the regulations are written may be up to you.

The Real Estate Industry has lobbied FOR some of these changes. Particularly the additional information requirements on the Fom B with respect to Parking and Storage.
Buyers deserve a definitive answer that they can depend upon.

That's it from my soap box today!

Wishing you all safe and happy investments in your homes and income properties,
Best regards, -Blair
