Social Networking Dangers for Real Estate Deals

Vancouver BC. Of course you are excited and want to share what is going on in your life with your friends, BUT...
Be very careful about what you post on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn or other sites about your real estate listing or purchase.
A saavy Realtor or opposing client may well check to see if there is any information which could be used against you in negotiations. Revealing your motivations, excitement and anxieties could well improve the bargaining position of the person on the other side of the deal.
Remember - LOOSE LIPS SINK SHIPS!
While I may use these social networking tools to promote your property for sale, or to help find a certain type of home and investment for you, I am extremely cautious about controlling the message.
Have you seen people posting updates such as "waiting on the counter offer- we'll sign anything right now" or "hope they don't discover the _____ during their inspection, we really need this sale" combined with the fact that you have already posted photos showing your new home.
Would you be furious if YOUR Realtor told THEIR Realtor the same things? Of course. So don't let your guard down, and make sure that the person working for you doesn't Twitter away your deal!
